"SUMMERIZE YOUR PET"

Check out the tips below to see if you're doing all you can to protect your "four-legged" friends during the warm weather months

Visit the Vet!
Please spay or neuter your pet - spaying and neutering not only prevents unwanted litters, but it protects our pets from cancer. An unaltered animal has a 99.5% greater chance of developing cancers of the reproductive system. Of the 311 pets reclaimed from our shelter in 2007 - 54% were not spayed or neutered!

Vaccinate your dogs against:

Vaccinate your cats against:

Rabies Rabies
Adenovirus Calicivirus
Distemper Feline Distemper
Parvovirus Panleukopenia
Coronovirus Feline Leukemia
Leptospirosis Feline Pneumonitus
Parainfluenza
Bordatella

protect your pets against parasites: Worms, fleas, ticks, ear mites and mange. Put your dog on Heart Worm preventative.

HOT WEATHER TIPS:
Provide plenty of shade and shelter for a dog or cat staying outside the house. Bring your pet inside during the hottest part of the day.

Dogs do not sweat to cool off, like people do. So if you are very hot, your dog might be even hotter.

Avoid exercising your pets during the hottest parts of the day.

DON'T LEAVE YOUR PET IN THE CAR!!!
Even 10 minutes could be too long for a pet left inside a car on a hot day. By then the temperature inside the car cold reach 160 degrees! That's hot enough to cause a pet to suffer heat stroke, and leaving a car window open won't cool off the car enough to keep your pets safe. Within minutes he or she could get permanent brain damage or even die.
