Did you know... Summer will soon be here, and the evidence is all around us! Everyone is out and about enjoying the nice weather, many walking or running with their pets. Unfortunately, some pet owners don't appear to understand that dogs and cats don't tolerate the heat the way humans do. Recently, someone was observed riding a bicycle with their Dachshund on a leash tied to the bike! The poor little guy was running as fast as he could to try to keep up. Another person was observed walking on a nearby school track with a small dog. The lady and her friend walked for well over an hour, engaged in conversation and totally oblivious to the fact that the poor little pooch kept trying to stop. The little guy even attempted to drink from a small puddle produced by a recent shower, but the owner pulled him away. No water bottled was evident anywhere on or near the people in question, and the temperature was in the 80's. All pets need exercise and fresh air, but owners need to pay close attention to the needs and abilitiies of their pets.
