Compassionate people can enhance their families by saving a pet’s life. By choosing to adopt instead of purchasing from a breeder or getting a “free” pet, adopters receive a pet that staff have taken the time to get to know. Pets adopted from the R-H SPCA have been vaccinated according to their age, which usually includes at least a baseline of DA2PPv (distemper/parvo) for dogs and FVRCP (panleukopenia/calici) for cats. All cats are tested for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) and FeLV (feline leukemia) before going up for adoption. Dogs are tested with a 4-Dx test (heartworms & tick-borne diseases). We take the time to put all dogs and cats through a standardized temperament assessment, so we can provide you with a personality snapshot and offer advice to help your new pet flourish in its new home.
