What are the chances that the pet I surrendered will find a home?

8/23/2016

FAQ > Owner Relinquishment

A pet’s chances of finding a new home are entirely individual. There’s no particularly mathematical matrix that can provide a percentage. How friendly and engaged a pet might be, their energy level, breed, size, color, age, past training, housebreaking status, bite history, overall health, and how likely their perfect person might walk through our doors all factor into an individual pet's length of stay with us.

We do work with over 70 limited admission and breed-specific rescue groups, and your pet may be submitted to one of them. Never seeing them available on the adoption floor or posted to our website does NOT necessarily mean that your pet was euthanized. If your pet has a health or behavior issue that our resources cannot address, rescue groups might have the resources we lack. They reserve the right to reject a submitted pet, which can limit our options concerning more severe problems; however, we can assure you that we will do the absolute best we can for your pet and that euthanasia will be an absolute final resort.
