Hi Friends, I just wanted to share this picture of Raider’s first 5K this past Saturday at the Annual Run/Walk for Autism Awareness to benefit Shenandoah Valley Autism Partnership. He did great and had a great time meeting all the other dogs and people, and as usual he made many new fans. We told everyone he met that he was an SPCA adoptee and if they were ever in the market to go find a forever friend! Thanks so much for sharing this update! Raider looks like such a healthy boy. Thank you for taking on a special pup who needed some TLC to get better!
April 18th marked the Great Community Give, an initiative of the Community Foundation right here in Harrisonburg VA. The Community Foundation joined forces with many nonprofits across the Valley who serve Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. This unique fundraiser took place entirely online, with #PointClickGive across social media. We are just WOWED and honored that Harrisonburg and Rockingham gave so much! Our original goal was $1000, which we met well before noon! Our community was so generous, we not only met and exceeded our original goal, but nearly tripled it! Our total is still getting its final tally, but at the time of this writing it's at $2,865 raised by 79 amazing donors who are directly supporting orphaned animals right here in our community! Thank you SO MUCH for supporting our initiatives to help dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and "pocket pets" who need a forever home! Donations from the #GreatCommunityGive will go to support our Spay/Neuter Fund and our NOVA Fund, which goes to pets with special medical needs. Watch our social media to see our adorable animals reaping the benefits of our benefactors such as a trip to Kline's Dairy Bar for a pup cup! If you missed the #GreatCommunityGive, don't feel left out! You can still donate online right here on our website. Thank you so much for all the amazing support! Sharing animals over social media helps them find their purr-fact humans and family. Keep it up!
Hi, My husband and I adopted Parmigiana from Hudson Mohawk humane society but she was originally from you guys. I picked her out right away cause she looked friendly and alert and wasn’t barking. We are so happy and think she is the best dog ever. We are surprised that she talks a lot though because she was perfectly silent for the first several days we brought her home. Now she talks like a husky lol! I’m wondering if she is part husky because she gets along at the dog park the best with huskies. However we also think she looks like a black mouth cur. She actually gets along with our cat Pepper. They aren’t cuddling but maybe in the future. Parmigiana needs lots of exercise but it’s good for us too. She gets walked 45 min every morning and 2 or 3 3-mile runs per week. We are doing the Peppertree furry fun run with her this coming Saturday!!! Thank you guys for rescuing her, she is such a good dog!!!! Just a friendly letter on the one year mark of the addition to the Pott Family. On July 28th 2012 we adopted Ladybird aka: Commander Adele (a bluetick coonhound). When we first brought her home, we thought, "What in the world were with thinking?" However with a lot of patience and work, she has turned into a good old hound dog who we love very much. I do believe we have made great progress; she is a very happy and busy girl. She keeps everything out of our yard (birds, bunnies, cats, mice and any other animals). She gets along well with her sister as we did not think this would ever happen. She has however managed to escape our yard on several occasions even though we have underground fencing, training collars, name tags, and microchips, but with the help of our newly purchased pet tracking (GPS) system we have managed to locate her. It's been a long year, but we are very happy with her! Thank you to Petfinder.com and Rockingham County Shelter for helping us find and adopt our loving and sweet Ladybird. Sounds like you have had quite the adjustment to a high-energy houndy! Thank you for your patience and persistence helping Ladybird be the best dog she can be and taking the time and resources to help keep her safe. So many hounds arrive at our animal shelter without any form of ID and no owners come forward to take them home. Helping these special, silly, goofy dogs adjust to a life indoors with a family can take some time, but it sounds like Ladybird has hit the jackpot for a loving forever home! Thank you Pott Family!
Thank you so much for the update on Deena! She looks so comfortable and at home. Thank you so much for adopting!
Puppuchino (renamed Roxy) is doing great and has became my best friend! She is very well behaved and doesn't know a stranger! She enjoys car rides to West Virginia with me all the time! Thank you again for all your help to adopt this great dog! I thought I would also include a few pictures! |
