Happy Howloween from Hammy and Laura!

10/31/2016

We just wanted to write and say a quick hello from Hammy and Laura!

Both Hammy and Laura are quite at home now. Laura completed her manners training, and showed us right away how clever she is! She keeps us busy with her constant requests for attention and her occasional discoveries of ways to get out of the yard fence. (Momma has repaired holes three times now.) She still annoys Hammy daily with her demands for a wrestle contest. Hammy usually obliges for a few minutes, then when he’s had enough he bellows out a call for Momma to come rescue him from Laura! Hammy is very content to find a nice sunny spot in the house (usually on the couch) to nap, and when outside he makes his rounds, sniffing everything at least twice before deciding he’s ready for another nap. Hammy also enjoys treats, bones, food (anyone’s food) and anything with peanut butter on it. As you can see from the photos, he’s become quite the chunk! Momma tells him daily what a handsome chunk of dog he is, and he always responds with a request for a big hug and ear massage.

Both Hammy and Laura have discovered how great snuggles are. Hammy is very tolerant of the baby’s (not quite yet easy) loves and kisses. The baby will grab onto Hammy and plant a big kiss on him! Laura is too quick for the baby to grab, but while she is running circles around the baby she darts in to kiss the baby on the face. I’ll try to get a picture of this adorableness soon; right now I’m too busy making sure everyone is giving easy loves when they get so excited!

Hope everyone is well and had a safe Halloween!

Georgia May Will Make Your Day!

10/27/2016

Picture
If you guys remember miss Georgia May, then you know that she was once a timid, shy, fearful dog just wanting to be loved, but being to scared to let anyone love her. Well, now shes a hyper, spirited, entertaining little girl. Shes loves being dressed up, running as fast as she can outside, sleeping in between her mom and dad, and taking naps behind the couch. She loves when everyone is in the same room so she can show off her toys. She likes occasional car rides (but not too long), and she loves the sound of water bottles when she steps on them. She does not like gun shots, or really loud noises. Thank you guys for giving us the opportunity to adopt her back at the beginning of may. She has been a huge blessing to this family.

Fairy Tale Ending for Fable Fairy Fuzz

10/20/2016

Picture
Missy (now named Fable Fairy Fuzz) has been with us for a month. She has been wonderful with her two human and three dog siblings. Fable loves to hang out where ever the action is and snuggling in laps. As you can see in the attached picture, she will even share a lap with her puppy sister.

Thanks for helping match her up with our family!

Blessings,
Diana

Butters

10/20/2016

Dear staff,
Just wanted to update you on our adoption of Butters. The entire family continues to be so in love with him!  He is such a little spitfire and we are endlessly amused. He has been great for his older sister Shakira and they are good companions. Anyway,  so happy with our decision and thanks for what your organization does!

We adopted Wilma and her sister Betty last week from the SPCA. So far, they are loving their new home, and most of all they love being together!! Yesterday, they had their first kitty check up. Everything went well and they will go back in a couple weeks for some shots. Wilma and Betty love chasing each other around the house, jumping and pouncing around, sitting on the kitchen table and looking out the big window, lounging on our laptop keyboards, and exploring everything in their new home. They especially love cuddling on the couch. We are so happy to share our home with them and watch them grow up. Thanks to everyone at the shelter for all of your help in making this adoption possible!

Best,
Kristen & Sammy

Throw Back Thursday: Lucy

Dear good folks at the Rockingham County SPCA,
My family adopted a puppy from you back in the early spring [2014] -- a female beagle/dachshund named Dara. I wanted to give you an update as to how she's doing.

My kids renamed her "Lucy." She's four months old now, and is a healthy and very content 11 pounds of pure affection.Lucy's had such a positive impact on every member of our family. We couldn't be happier. We hope neither could she.

I've attached a picture I snapped just the other morning. In the words of my daughter, "Tell me she ain't the most precious thing you ever seen."

Thank you so much for everything. Hope you all enjoy your summer.
Best,
Billy C. and family

These two wiggly boys arrived at the RHSPCA together as two tiny strays. With some steady nutrition (and a lot of love from staff and volunteers), these two kittens beefed up! Now they're headed home together. Thank you for adopting!!
