A couple sits in red chairs. The man has a brown and black beagle mix in his lap.
A smiling young man holds a framed portrait of Daphne, a brindle and white pit pull, with her graduation cap on. Daphne is leaning on his knees.
A family with a young son poses with their new black and white puppy Knight.
Our Graduation Adoption weekend kicked off right with three fabulous adoptions! May 11-18, ALL pets have a reduced adoption fee of just $60 to help them graduate from the animal shelter and on to a big, bright future in their forever homes. The reduced adoption fee still includes their vaccinations, testing, and microchip ID.

Daphne, the dog in the middle, graduated with honors! We have some special pets who have earned a scholarship to help them that much more. Come see our animals and find out who has an adoption fee of just $40!

Yuki enjoys spending time on her personal window shelf that her dad made her. Yuki spends most of her time sun bathing, and showing off her thick thighs. Yuki sends her love and thanks you for taking care of her until she found her furever home, she misses you! Yuki likes low calorie treats, playing with the laser pointer, and shredding any shopping bag she can get her paws on, Yuki is a bundle of love, and our favorite gal!

With love,

Hello everyone,

My name is Ursula and I adopted Macy from your shelter last month and brought her home with me to Philadelphia. I just wanted to thank you all again for helping me to get her and let you know that she is doing great! I've included a picture of her.

Throwback Thursday: Katie Nana

9/6/2018

Picture
Hi All,
As I'm sitting here on my couch this Friday night, I can't help but want to show you all what a blessing my Katie Nana has been! Since we brought her home in May, she has come out her shell so much. She still doesn't like toys, but she'll do anything for a chicken wrapped raw hide. She whines and moo's like a cow when she's excited and she loves to lay on the couch and our bed when we're not at home. She has the spare bedroom all to herself where she can lay on the bed and bark at other dogs out the window! She rarely barks but when she does, it's because she's excited. She loves long walks and she even wakes her mom up at 6:00AM every morning for her walk. She only listens to her dad but she does love both of us so much. If you're near her while she's laying down, she will find your hand with her nose just for a rub and she also loves to put her face right up against your cheek and just lay there. She loves being close to her mom and dad.

The vet says she's anywhere from 5-7 but this Ol lady still goes into a full sprint when she sees a cat in the neighborhood. She also loves to chase bunnies. She has gained a healthy 10lbs since coming to her forever home and
her thick fur coat is growing in for the winter after we have her a short cut this summer.

Thank you again for all you did for our girl and every day we look at each other and can't believe our love for our sweet Katie Nana. And thank you for what you continue to do for all the other animals at the shelter. Adopting Katie Nan was the best decision we've ever made. She continues to bring us so much joy and if we come up to Harrisonburg with her, we will absolutely come visit!! I hope all the pictures send as well!

Happy Fall!
Melissa and Zachary

Harley, now Abby

Hello!
I adopted Abby (you may remember her as Harley) from your shelter in May 2017. She was put up for adoption multiple times because she had separation anxiety issues. She still has some general anxiety but I love her so much and she's doing really well! I know you said you like to get updates and see how your pets are doing. Here are some pics!

Just wanted to thank you for bringing this sweet angel into my life!  I adopted Annelle about a week ago from you.  She has adapted easily and is loving living the spoiled girl life!  I know you can’t rescue them all but just wanted to let you know this little girl is loving life.  I’m sure you don’t get thanked often enough for what you do.  I’ve attached a few pictures of her so you can see!
With thanks,
Shannon
